Internet Dialer Setup for Windows XP

Connection Wizard Instructions



Windows XP has different views for the start menu to determine which view you have click the Start button, then choose Control Panel, If you are running Windows XP in classic mode, your will need to click the Start button, select Settings, then choose Control Panel
You should see one of the following

Windows XP
General Questions
E-mail
Dial Up Settings

Internet Setup

Internet Explorer 5.X
Internet Explorer 6.0

Microsoft
Windows 95/98
Windows ME
Windows 2000
Windows XP

Apple Macintosh
OS 8/9
OS X

Once the Control Panel is open click the Switch to Classic View icon.


NOTE: In some cases this screen may not appear
If it doesn’t continue on to the next step.
Double-click the Network Connections icon.


Click the Create a new connection icon.


Click the Next button


Select Connect to the Internet then click the Next button


Select Set up my connection manually
Then click the Next button.


NOTE: In some cases the next two screen may not appear,
if it doesn’t continue on to the next step.
Enter 209 in the area code box then click the OK button.


Click the OK button again.


Select Connect using a dialup modem then click the Next button


Type “MLI” for the connection name then click the Next button.



Here type in the phone number that matches your area.
(leave the area code out)


Click the Next button to continue.
Type in your user name (the login name you chose when you signed up, all lowercase letters)
Type in your password (Passwords are case sensitive)
Remove the third check mark leaving the first 2 checked.



Click the Next button
Click the Finish button.



Close any open windows by click on the “X” in the top right hand corner of the window.
Then following the first step to get back into your control panels.
Double click on the Internet Options icon.



Click the tab at the top that says Connections.
Click Always dial my default connection so that the dot is in the white circle next to this option.
Click OK



Click the “X” in the top right hand corner to close the control panels.
Your computer is now setup to connect to the Internet.
